don't write OT on a new thread title, you're creating the topic, everything you write is very much ON topic!

Surely, you need an outer CV joint or replacement driveshaft?

The Volvo owners club is the place to try. Always very helpful when we owned a 480 many years ago, I was a member though

Probably corrosion that caused that. You'll need to take suspension apart to get the driveshaft out .

Amazing to hear you still have one! Valerie the Volvo was my 2nd ever car, and compared to my mates in their crappy escorts and Astras, she was a beast! Comfy, reasonably quick, and very reliable! She was written off when some old dear drove into the back of me - the insurance paid out and I bought her back for £50. After 10 mins with a mallet, she was nearly as good as new. We ran her for another 3 years - very cheap motoring!

Good luck with your fix - I am sure you will get it sorted!
