Finally got my registration

Well after a month of phone calls and chasing up my application and sending off further receipts for chassis and engine I have finally been given a verbal registration and it includes 14 which means I got my new plate, great news! Just got to get some plates made and send off a cheque for a further £5 as apparently the tax is now £145 not £140, but who cares I have a legal car that I built!

If I had to give any advice for doing the application process

1) photocopy everything

2) send it recorded delivery

3) phone the DVLA after a week to see if they have received your application (I left it 2 weeks as you should, to be told nothing had turned up after a sh!tyy email I was told they had been found)

4) nag nag nag!

All thats behind you now

Get out and enjoy the car... but be carefull, they bite especially when the roads are cold and damp. Free entry to Stoneleigh should make up for the extra £5 tax.

I'm planning to go for a new registration with everything as new except for the engine which would be reconditioned by me.

I'm wondering how to prove it's reconditioned other than receipts for bearing shells, gasket set etc. especially when I'm not sure I can rely on the DVLA to understand reconditioning myself...

What did you do - new engine?

I had my engine supplier supply a receipt with the wording the DVLA told me was needed

"Engine reconditioned to as new standard"

Thanks.

I guess I can supply such a letter myself and attached receipts but I guess it might not cut it...
