The otherone that is awesome is the A82,...

Both best driven in the wee small hours, but keep an eye for Deer and Cameras

Daan Saath we don't get exciting roads, A roads are too open(boring) and or camera'd, B roads are to tight or being used by grannys or mums driving at 30mph avoiding the rush hour.

The A272, Winchester to Petersfield is a local favourite of mine. Best driven at night these days.

Snake Pass is a great drive, but very rare to get a good run over it.

Snakes pass is not the holy grail. Super busy all the time, a few mobile speed cameras in place and limited overtaking places.

Its not what it was 5 years ago.

You're not too far from me, about an hour or so. There's some brilliant roads up here in north wales

- The A5 from LLangollen - Betws Y Coed
- The 470 mid Wales
- The A483 to south Wales

The best by far though has to be the A543 from denbigh (Part of the Evo triangle)

Black mountains a good run. I'm down near Cardiff so a good run is from Port Talbot over the Bwlch A4107, down into Treorchy and over the Rhigos mountain road A4061 down to Hirwaun. From Hirwaun, the A4059 through Penderyn (past the Whiskey Distillery) then onto the A470 to the outskirts of Brecon. A40 then to Llandovery. From there take the A4069 Black mountain road and end up around the North Side of Swansea - 4 or 5 hours of pure driving pleasure.

A fantastic road is the Maerdy mountain road (A4233) - probably one of my favourites. Only a few miles long but fantastic combination of steep hills, 1st gear hairpins, flying mountain top roads, unsighted bends and elevation changes. If you go from Aberdare, when you get to the outskirts of Maerdy there is a big wide turning, spin around there and wait for a nice gap in the traffic to get a good run.

Come to Scotland. Try the Applecross road I guarantee a thrill. Bring your anti midge cream (skin so soft is a favourite).
