The honest answer is I don't know
I have just used it as a stand alone unit and it is able to record data and disay and store it in the unit
I would describe It as a way to monitor performance it wi record and display acceleration cornering and braking g
And then this data ca be downloaded onto a laptop
It comes with a cable to connect to a computer
