Led bulbs

Hi to all,

any experience with led bulbs installed in traditional headlamps or rear lights?

I replaced my sidelights with LED equivalents, they were absolutely useless but then again they were chinese cheapos. I don't believe LED's can be used in headlights as the beam pattern wouldn't be correct, (or anywhere near bright enough)?

I vaguely remember something about the R8 being the only car allowed to have LED headlights, but they've been specifically designed with the car.

Edit: Then again, looks like there are some e marked ones now;

yep

all my rear lights are leds... but they are not replacement bulbs, they are led units.

indicator flasher relay needs to be changed, if there is not enough load for it.

don't think you can replace a headlight bulb with led, the light wont reflect out properly and will be very dimm.

Most of the lorries here and most industrial trailers have been converted to LED's, including mine.

The only problem so far has been the lack of heat produced by these bulbs, (when compared to filament bulbs), this lack of heat fails to clear the snow from these lights which makes it hard to see these vehicles from the rear while travelling in blowing snow.

Not a problem for Locosters
