pinto restart related questions

well my engine quit on me the other day.

looks like the clip has disappeared from the oil pump and its not been doing its job.

crank, bearings, bores all toast. this is from a Vulcan engines 135 spec lump.

anyways the cam and head are ok. located a good bottom end to put my head onto.

any good ideas when coming to restart it. the bottom end been stood for a year with no oil in it .

Clean every thing
Pack pump with vasaline, take cover off, pack rotors, put cover back
Take distributor out, spin up pump with battery powered drill to get pressure on the gauge or for oil pressure light to go out, refit distributor, if you've marked original position and rotor position you should be ok.
Spray of easy start or carb cleaner down carb.
Fire up and idle till warm.

The bottom end I'm fitting is from a good known source .
Do I really need to strip it apart and pack the oil pump.??

The only engine i know that's standard practice is the older rover v8 with external pump, I've never had a problem with a pinto. All i do is put it all together, plugs out, spin it on the starter until there's oil pressure, plugs back in and start it up.
