dummy shocks

i will soon have my chassis rolling but first i need to knock up some dummy shocks
what size should i cut some tubing at and what hole centres roughly

Whatever length sets your nominal ground clearance / ride height.

You could always make the dummy shocks adjustable in length so that you can figure out the optimum length.
