Registration Documents

Right , trying to complete the registration documents now I have my IVA pass certificate but am already stuck on question 2 (question one is registration number...blank)

I am going for an age related plate so filling in V355/5

Tax Class - if registered before 01/03/01 then use 'PLG' if after this date use 'Petrol Car', however because the engine is pre 99 and the donor was 1990 do you use PLG as for tax purposes as if you use Petrol Car the tax changes on emmissions?

Why can't DVLA have forms just for Kits

Another thing that has sprung up too,

What to do with the V5 from your donor vehicle, do you sign it and return it, should you have the dismantler sign it. My donor body was scrapped off years ago but I kept hold of the V5 and had the vehicle SORN. Also I cut out the VIN plates so it was just sold as scrap metal.

Pretty sure it's PLG.

If your going age related you'll need to fill in form V627 in addition to v55/5...

https://www.gov.uk/government/uploads/system/uploads/attachment_data/file/278783/V627X1_270913.pdf

On that you list the various parts and their source. I'd attach your donor VIN and V5 to that. Some of the questions on that are a bit vague but just use you imagination.

This.
The reason you kept the V5 from the donor
Copy everything and send it recorded signed for

Thanks Adi,

I'll fill this in as far as I can and hope that is enough information. I never had the scrappy fill in the dismantler information but got rid of it as scrap. It's just what to put on the V5

Well incase other have the same questions as me I have:

  • Filled in the V55/5 for an age related plate
  • Sent a copy of my driving licence as requested on the form
  • A cheque for the fee for registration and tax (£55 reg fee, £245 Tax)
  • A copy of my insurance certificate so it can be taxed (as request on the V55/5)
  • Build up report form V627/1 which includes transmission, steering, and axle from donor
  • V5C from donor vehicle
  • Receipt for engine which was not from donor
  • VIN plate from donor
  • IVA certificate
  • A covering letter detailing the items above
  • null

All this has been sent recorded/signed for and copies made of everything just incase.

I will let you know if I hear back of anything else required

do they require a receipt for the components which are not from the donor vehicle then?! :s

I have a Toyota engine which I bought in cash off a mate. The escort axle and front uprights were the same. gearbox I got given and steering rack I bought new!

So have no traceability for any of it!!

Have you had a response from DVLA yet on your registration? Be interested to know if they want to inspect the car or not. They appear to have closed most local offices now!

I am still waiting for DVLA as I have heard nothing from them. My documents were signed for on the 20th June but as of today the 12th July still nothing. I have phoned them every week so far only to be told by one contact there is nothing on the system and another that it will be processed over the next few days!!!

Looks like DVLA are still useless...

Don't think they do inspections any more as they consider the IVA inspection for this part. The reciepts were all with the IVA inspector when I had my test but I took the originals with me just incase.

So long as you have a reciept for it it doesn't matter where it came from - I had my E-bay reciepts for the donor and the engine I bought, It could be a Word document with the details on and a signature, it's still a reciept ;-)

I spoke to DVLA this morning.

My paperwork was signed for at 5:50am Friday 7th of July, and addressed to Kits and Rebuilds.

The girl I spoke to Karen, was really helpful, she said all the mail goes to a central point about 3 miles away from her office and is forwarded on. (I reckon it's delivered to the correct office by Donkey!)

When her department receives the mail, it's logged.

The paperwork is then processed in date order, if all the paperwork is correct.

Today they are processing applications received in their office July 7th.

It'll be interesting to see when our registrations are processed.

Do you have a direct dial number for Kits and rebuilds? If so it would be helpful for others

I have 2 numbers, 01792 782069 which I tried yesterday afternoon and was always engaged, and 01792 786053 which I reckon is a direct line to the kits and rebuilds office.

Be nice and polite to them and don't spend too much time on the phone in case they're processing tims31 or my paperwork lol!

Remember, you never got the number form me!!

Finally managed to get through today and spoke to the Clerk who is looking at my paperwork. She couldn't find the cheque I had attached at first but then found it but now needs the receipt from Fury Sportscars with the chassis number on it to show that I bought it new from them. Thankfully I managed to speak to Jay at Fury and get them to send out a duplicate receipt which they had added the chassis number to and fowarded that onto the clerk so hopefully may hear something over the next couple of days.

Got a week off work next week and hope I have the registration by then and the weather holds out

Well finally my V5 document arrived yesterday, had already ordered some stick on plates so I could go out as soon as they arrived, managed to get 200yds down the road before the fuel pump failed

The pump seems to run ok when sat on the drive but as soon as you put your foot down the engine dies. When trying to start you can't hear the pump run and the engine just cranks over. After about two minutes it starts again but will do the same thing again once under load. Sounds like its either breaking down or overheating. The pump is mounted under the fuel tank with an NRV, Glass see through LP Filter and then the pump, could the NRV be starving the pump?

Can you put a volt meter or even a 12v bulb on the terminals on the fuel pump to make sure it's getting power? This should prove whether it's a fuel pump issue or a supply (relay?) issue.

How long did it take to get your V5 from when you posted it? Looks like a month going by your threads.

I posted mine on the 6th (July), it was signed for on the 7th, booked in DVLA kits and rebuilds on the 13th and today they said to call next week to see if it's been assigned to a clerk.

I'd loose the NRV then see what happens. No real need for one anyway IMO. Also check that you're tank breather is OK and you're not getting vacuum in the tank.

Yep, about a month. They processed it on Friday last week but paperwork only turned up yesterday (19th)

Yep the breather is ok and I suspect it is the NRV causing restriction. There is power to the pump and with it only happening when under load that is why I suspect the pump is overheating. Also going to put in a larger LP filter too, one with 12mm dia fittings just incase this is restricted too.
