Anyone know this car? Raw Striker

Im having a look at a supercharged Raw Striker at the weekend. Apparently it was an ex Raw demo car. Red with a rotrex supercharger. Reg MB09 RAW.

Anyone know it? I would like to know more about the build spec and history.

If anyone is experienced in 4age supercharged strikers and wants to give me any viewing you then please do.

TIA

Hi

Red with Black arch's and black side panels?

If so.. then I recall RAW having a demo car in that spec, it did the rounds of the shows, think even the engine was painted to match IIRC.. seem to remember chatting to them at Autosport show over it one year, probably circa 2010 ish?

Back around then, several people were into that engine as it gave a solid 220ish bhp for little funds, now the engines are quite sought after..
it'll sound epic..

It'll all be about the condition of the car though really?

Was a factory car if it was this one?

Its one that appears on the wiki page too. https://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/thumb/e/eb/RawStriker.jpg/280px-RawStriker.jpg

Used on all the promo stuff from 2009 on wards, around the time I bought my kit, think it was for sale around 2010/2011 before bulmers bought Raw.

This is the one, well I think it is.

I was hoping someone may have been able to dig out a spec sheet on it, from some promotional material they remember seeing.

Jim, you are right. I will be having a close look at the chassis to make sure its ok. I expect the bodywork will now have some scratches etc. but its the mechanics I mainly want to judge.

My predictive typing was awful in my OP. The final line was meant to read if anyone is experienced in supercharged 4age strikers and wants to give me any viewing tips then please do.

Dont think there was one when it was on promo as they clearly market it as a 'you choose' for engine etc. I do recall Mel being very pro 4AGE but never pushed it when he knew the prospective buyer had other plans.

The 4age engine is great. My NA one is 165bhp and as a stock 1.6 from nearly 30 years ago it's been faultless punching well above its weight.

That's why I was keen for another 4age and always liked the idea of a rotrex powered one.

The problem is things like the gearbox and diff. I have no idea if they are built for the power. Hopefully as a ex demo car it's has been well spec'd and still has all of those bits on

Hi

Ok.. this is all from memory so take with a big pinch of salt..

I think.. that's a Sierra IRS on that car, if so the standard diff's good for plenty of power as it is, if it's been upgraded from there then so much the better.. Mel and I compared notes as we'd been wining the class at sprints and hillclimbs with a live axle

I also think.. it had a BGH Type 9 HD in it - as a year or two before when Martin was helping my brother and I upgrade our Mk3 that was their preferred/recommended option and I believe they stuck with it, I have vague recollections of chatting over gear ratio choices at an event somewhere or other!
But of course that being in it then and being in it now is a different question..

Hope this helps a bit

I remember Raw had that as a demo car but not much about it. One thing I would look out for is that Raw often swapped bits off the demo cars when they sold them so the spec might have changed. Not in a dishonest way and they were quite open about it but just that they would keep some of the higher cost option parts to put on the next demo car. An example would be fitting a locking diff on the demo car but then swapping it to a lower cost open diff when selling it on.

Agreed, I remember sitting in this and I'm 99% certain that it had a BGH in it then

This is good info, thanks. It's 14 years old now so who knows what has been swapped off of it.

I can have a good punt at the diff. Jack it up, spin the wheels. This will give me the ratio and if it is LSD.

The gearbox however is tough. Is there any easy way to check what gears are inside the box? I'm not going to have enough access to take the top case off.

Well it went well enough for me to buy it!!

A few reveals and discoveries once I got there. I think I paid an ok price, you never quite know what is a "good price". .

Time will tell, I'm taking it to Oulton Park on Saturday. I'm unsure how much track action the car has seen but I'll certainly be giving it a shake down!

I'll do a proper wire up with pictures after the weekend
