205 tyres on 6" rim?
Will 205 wide tyres fit on a 6 inch rim?
(I want to know whether I can put some 205 Yoko 32/48's on my 13inch ford RS 4 spokes)

There is a school of thought that suggests that the rim would not be sufficiently wide to properly control the movement of the tyre laterally.
The same theory has it that something like a 195 section tyre on a 7" rim would be quite stretched - again laterally and would be more under
control.
I'll stop talking b0**ocks now and cut to the chase.
I would not think that 205s on 6" rims is a great idea. Not for ultimate grip and behaviour

OK cheers, I guess I'll get 185's for now then.
Do you know what offset ford RS wheels are? Seen some 7 inch wheels for sale with a 100mm PCD - would they fit my locost?

I think I read somewhere that the rim width should be approx 85% of the tyre width - so for a 205 tyre that gives a rim width of 6.86", so
roughly 7".

You will find most makers spec the limits you should use for a given tyre. It seems to be the higher the aspect ratio the more suited the tyres are to
narrow rims. I was looking for a while for 205/55 to fit on my 6" rims and have just seen Toyo 888s are OK.

For 205/60x13 tyres the permissible rim width is 5.5 to 7.5" The preferred recommended size is 6 or 6.5" so your rims are perfect for
these. This data is from my Yokohama tyre technical guide. HTH

its a blinder! ford is 108 pcd, innit? so how can they be ford rs wheels with a 100 pcd? unless they're just 'in the style of'.

A tyre from the narrow end of a rims fittment band generally gives best handling, this usually isn't the same as the greatest lateral grip &
traction.
205 is a permisable fittment for a 6" width rim only slightly on the wide side.

Joel, the ones I've seen for sale are in the style of rs wheels, so with fords bein 108pcd i guess they ain't for a ford!
Think I mite go for 205's on the back and 185's on the front - what you think?

Superlights
I've gone for 6x13 Superlights with a 205/60/13 rear and 185/60/13 front - looks the mutts with a chubby fat rear end.....

Hi Gazza, have you got any pics of those wheels? At the moment I've got 15" wheels but I really love the look of smaller superlights so am
thinking of changing them at some point.

i found out the other day that 13s dont fit over ABS front hubs, due to the bigger caliper.
Gazza, i like your thinking, thats almost exactly what im aiming for. Just looking around for suitable minilights (or reps) for the arse end. ive got
some 5.5 ones for the front, im thinking 6 or 7 for the rear, and some cut slicks lots of fun... when i buy new back running gear...  sold it all
