they are very well finished off they really look the part
iv been on the westfield fourm and there all telling me not to buy it cos its to much
i know the bloke who will be making it he is a mate of my dads

As said on WSCC, change the 17s for 15s, but good other than that.

you haven't said what chassis it is??
if it's a westfield/luego/stuart taylor/mk then as a turnkey car it is worth the money based on what thoe manufacturers charge (although not
built by the factory, unless your dad's mate works there?)
As a privately built and sva's car it's worth less imho, even if it is to order. With a factory turn key car you have some sort of
comeback if anything goes wrong, would you if your dad's mate built it?
You will always loose money on a car as soon as it comes out of the show room, very few cars don't (normally limited edition runs or exotica)
this is a fact of life.
Whether its worth the money is your decision as already said, it's only worth what someone is willing to pay.

im not sure what chassis it is ill try and find out tonight ! is there alot of difference in chassis ?
he will give me 12months guarantee
I under stand I will lose some money on it I just don't want to lose to much
I don't want to find out its only worth 50% of its value after 12months when I could buy a second hand Westfield and poss lose less

so is it a mac1 chassis?
the make of the chassis will affect the resale value imho.
for the money you may be better off buying a good low milage used example. there are a lot of them in the kitcar mags and could be a better
spec/price. for example i recall seeing a good vauxhall xe westfield in this months which kitcar for similar/less money. you'd be less likely to
lose money on a good value newish used car. Also, when would the car be ready if your dad's mate bulit it, would it be ready this summer? buying
a prebuilt car will have you enjoying it quicker. will it be registered on an age related plate, q plate or new 05 reg?
i'm not saying don't do it, just check out all the options before making youyr decision.
what is the reason for having one built? to have a new car/ known origin/ history/ new parts/ engine ?

the chassis isnt mac1 i just rang them to get a price to compaire
the car would be ready in 1 month and would take the dona cars reg
im having 1 built because iv no where to build one my self

he has offerd me a tiger super for 8.5k its build up and ready for the test, its the same spec (zetec etc)
it look like this (this is not the car tho)
is this better value ??

In terms of a cars worth there are many factors. A Ford Mondeo may have the same spec as a Mercedes E-class and do the same job but their worth is
very different.
A home built Tiger can be offered for 9.5K buts value against a Mac#1, MK, Westie or Caterham is very different. Each manufacturer has developed there
product, some better than others so essentially they are all different.
A 13K factory built Mac#1 may be worth 10K after a year or 2's careful useage. A home built Tiger may cost 6 / 7Kto build, sold new for 9K but
in all probability will be worth 4 / 5K in the same time period.To illustrate better, im building a ZR but i know it wont be worth 13K when
finished.
I agree with the above comments that if resale and loss is the main concern then a 2nd hand Caterham is probably better value. I suspect the motivator
in buying a se7en is not resale, more enjoyment etc therefore if you are happy with the 9K option then go for it and enjoy it. I would advise however
going to see 3 or so factories so you can see there standard to help you make the final decision.
The more people you ask the more 'advice' you will get based on very different experiences.

As far as I've read you are not supposed to be given exactly the same registration number, although obviously it's very common to be given
one of the same age. I think they are supposed to give you one that was never issued previously so that no confusion could ever arise as to what the
car was (due to out of date databases or similar).

DVLA have a points scheme where you declare the origins of the main components, if you can score above their threshold for the donor car they'll
let you have the reg. no. of the donor, my mate just did it for a cobra replica.
