IRS mods to book chassis PDF

In response to a request in the Avon section, I've converted a drawing showing the method I'm using to fit IRS to a book chasis into PDF format.

Be gentle

Wow!!

70 views and 70 downloads.

I'd appreciate comment and constructive criticism, nothing is set in stone as yet.

Morf

Why would you want the base of the chassis to rise at the rear? I would think the IRS loads are transmitted more efficiently through a flat construction. (The IRS theory gets more complex with angled wishbone mounts aswell).

For those who might want a bit of inspiration I've ressurected this thread.
I have drawings of all the components except the upper bones which have still to be finalised.
This design is untested but appears to work on 'paper'

Drawing is to scale

Well done Mick.

Although we have aproached diagonal bracing differently, your wish bone size and mounting positions look very similar to mine.
I wish I could draw like you. Never could get the hang of cad and the like.

Is Morf refering to the chassis bottom rising before or after the rearmost w/b mount cross member?
The rear of mine goes up at the back in the fuel tank area, but like you say, keep it simple for the bone mounts.

p.s. my sig seems appropriate for this thread

It looks like you'll be cramped for tank space Mick. You could make the back a bit longer without any problems or you'll need a complicated (read expensive) shape for the fuel tank.

yours, Pete

I went into the RSPCA office the other day. It was so small you could hardly swing a cat in there.

Has the roll center location/stability been calculated for this?

What kind converter do you need?
There are some free ones, if they do not fit - please let me know.
