Llandow trackday vid

A couple of apologies. First my ISP (Plusnet) have a rediculous daily limit of 100mb so you may not get it first time. Also its a Striker but I hope you're still interested

Thanks to Gav try this link instead...

My first event since a few changes so the engine, GBX, diff and tyres were all new to me on track. I found a good combination of tyre pressures but also found I didn't have enough fromt neg camber by the end of the day.

What gearbox are you using there. It sounds quite nice!

FYI for those lucky enough to get it.

Gearbox is a BGH close ratio, heavy duty 2.8 based unit. Very new so it sounds almost straight cut I suppose. The diff has a 4.44:1 crown and pinion so again adds a distinct whine.

The remote microphone is a desktop computer freebie and is stuck to the top of the fuel tank. So no wind noise but you can hear the GBX, diff and tyres clearly. Seems to work better than a specific camcorder remote mic i.e. no wading or damping was used.

I seen it all, very impressive.
Not really a vast amount between the r888's and slicks is there?
I wasn't sure which colour to paint my car when I get to that stage but yellow or green seem to be faster than blue

Good video though mate well done.

Forgot to say it was a Ford type 9 GBX.

FYI when considering your brakes I have stuck to standard Sierra calipers, discs (£10 each) & pads. The rear has drum driveshafts and hubs converted to disc.

No problems with stopping on the day but I did limit my sessions to about 15 laps or so. I may try some performance pads for a little more initial bite and heat resistance but overall I was happy.

The R888 tyres have made the biggest difference to stopping. Total contrast to my first trak days on road tyres!

Downloading now... finally got it to work That video camera must have been handheld as it is taking up the vibrations/damping in the body well

Thats the difference between a £500 Sony camcorder and a budget model

The Behague universal mount also helps as its rubber damped.

Next time I'll try a wide angle lens and mount it higher to get the gauges in for some reference.

Tis a small but still quite technical circuit. Very cheap to hire and yep there are a few bumps but mostly at the end of the main straight.

I needed a little red mist to get me going as I think I was coasting a lot of the time

Not sure what is either of the Golfs but they have been at the same meets before so i'll have a gander next time.

When were you there? It's my local track - 20 mins from home. Done 4 days there already this year and back again on 29th!

Have some really good footage - particularly skating around on a waterlogged track. Shame it's all on old fashioned video!

A few more of my vids from a couple of years ago at Llandow here, its a good little circuit for the money and commutable in a day for a fair amount of people, although it's very flat, it really needs a bit of elevation like Anglesey to make it even more fun.

Being lazy and not looking on their site, are there any weekend dates in the next month or so?
Chris
