Opel manta

Are opel manta uprights any good?, does anybody have a drawing for one?

Aha, my pet subject, will say now that I am something of a guru on these!!!

(omoc oracle and owned 7 I think, actually 8 now!)

basically, no good really!

The axle is a trailing arm and torque tube arrangement so is a pig to convert to 5 link. The 1.6, 1.9 and 2.0 engines are CIH engines and weigh about 20 tonnes. The 1800 is ok but you might as well use a 2.0 ohc then!

Stuff like the manta steering column is very good, but the main running gear is no good at all really!

I thought the uprights where a good replacement for the Cortina,could be wrong though

Yes, the uprights are useful, but you'll need very different balljoints, and some way of getting different pcd/wheels etc if using a ford rear axle, as opel wheels wont fit the ford pcd.
