Diff Bearing Housing

Hi Folks

I had a bit of a silly moment last night and broke one of the teeth bits off the diff bearing housing. I was trying to remove the oil seal.

Can anyone tell me if this matters? I am using the push in type drive shafts so I don't think this is a problem. If I need to replace it does anybody know where to get another one and how to remove the broken one.

Thanks
Jim

nah, one broken one will do no harm. They are there to unscrew the housing with, there's a Ford special tool that engages with them and unscrews the housing.

Vauxhall do just the same on thir FWD boxes, I just use some flat bar through the teeth to unscrew them but this occasionally breaks one off, no need to panic.
