Donor not SORN

When I bought my donor escort, the man I bought it off had had it for 12 years but never had the logbook updated, so I did have it updated, dated 21/02/2003, & I have a V5 document, that is the only contact I have had with DVLA, never had any tax reminders or SORN forms to fill in & I have never attempted to get the new V5C, what should I do, the car has been stripped, all identification removed from the body & sold for the remaining body parts,
should I attempt to declare it sorn on the DVLA website, should I declare it scrap, should I do nothing, should I apply for a newV5C.
I want my locost to have an age related plate

please advise

thanks all

Only thing I can suggest is give them a ring,
You have done nothing knowingly illegal, they are civil servants payed by you, ask them for advise,

I purchased my Sierra without a log book, (V5), guy said he would get one and send it to me, never did. I applied to the DVLA and got a new one issued to me, (about twenty quid I think), now two years ago, never heard another word from them, no Sorn form, nothing. Mind you when I applied for the log book I sent a covering letter stating that the car had not, and would not be used by me on the road, don't know if that makes any difference, knowing DVLA I doubt it. I would tend to leave well alone. atb Chippy.

Yes that will be great until some nob at the DVLA picks it up and sends you a bill. You will sleep better knowing you are all correct.
But what do I know?

Don't worry. All is legal. The car was off the road at the time of introduction of SORN. It does not need a SORN and DVLA will not permit you to declare it SORN. You can apply for a V5C if you wish. I would not declare it scrapped until after SVA. (should the donor engine explode during testing you can legitimately buy any engine, 'fit' it to the donor and inform DVLA of the new engine in the donor. Then fit it to your locost and it is still a one donor car.)

Likewise - mine was off road at intro of SORN and I scrapped shell. Got the car in 2002 with logbook.

Took V5 to DVLA Maidstone as part of my proof of where donor parts came from and he didn't say a word.
