something's not right.....

Having another good time with the indy today until the clutch felt a bit weird aproaching a road about. Came round it, and tried to use the clutch to see if anything was wrong, and the pedal was rock hard. Pulled over to asses the problem and the slave cylinder appears to be hanging on by 1 1/2 bolts, as it's at a crazy angle to the gearbox. The engine was still in gear, but the car could be pushed around, ie the clutch was down/open. Also couldn't get the neutral light on.
Any ideas what the hell caused this? And will it be a case of just putting things back in place and getting some new bolts? I'll take some pics tomorrow as it's a bit dark out.
