oil pressure buzzer or light

Hi Guys,

Any ideas on how to fit a oil buzzer or light for low or no oil pressure?

the vw golfs have these and seems quite a good idea.

I know for the light, you use a low pressure sender and buzzer a hi-pressure sender. But what would you need in terms of electronics to switch the warning device on or keep it off under normal conditions. Remember it mustn't come on on ignition, only after engine start?

thanks

Normally you would allow the oil light to switch on with the ignition - acts as a check like the brake test light. This is just a simple connection from sender to light. Why complicate it?

ok fair enough, if I fit a buzzer, would it not go off for at least a moment? the senders I want to fit are the common senders you get, do these automatically send a current once the oil pressure drops past their rated pressure?

thanks

easy peasy; use the alternator charge wire to power a 2 way relay. when engine is running, charge lamp goes out and this will switch in your buzzer circuit - that will then go off as you say (when you get low pressure)
