Ford Festiva engine

Am I wrong or will a Festiva 1600 engine bolt right up to a 1979 Escort 4speed trans? What clutch/flywheel do I use? Can I use the same motor mounts?I have got to do something about this 1300 crossflow. Parts, let alone preformance stuff, in the states is nonexistant. Festivas have an OK following. Ths Russ

is a Festiva really a ford badged Mazda 121 or something?

If it has a mazda type engine then probably it wont fit straight on. if it has a CVH or the like then it may do.

not much help but I've never seen a Festiva

If it's the Ford CVH engine (SOHC 8v, iron block, alloy head), or the Zetec E (DOHC, 16v, iron bloc, alloy head) then the 4 speed bellhousing should match up ok. However, the standard FWD clutch may well be wrong for this application, and you will need a spigot bearing fitted into the end of the crank. I'm sure someone will know about the clutch.

The more modern Zetec SE (DOHC, 16v, all alloy) does not use the same bellhousing as the older Ford engines.
