Stainless steel tube
I'm attempting to make a modification to my exhaust.
I need to find a piece of 4"(112mm) Dia stainless steel tube with a wall thinkness of between 3/16 and 1/4(4.75 to 6.35mm), it only needs to be
30mm long.
Does anyone know of where i can get or order such a strange size in such a small quantity?

Have you thought of getting a flat strip of stainless, then rolling and welding it?
Most small engineering companies would probably do this for you, rather than buy in a length of pipe and cut it off.

It did cross my mind, but rolling a perfect circle out of 4-6mm stainless doesn't fill me with joy.

If you get it rolled properly so that the ends overlap, then you can expand it to 4" and cut straight through the overlap. You will then have a
perfect circle to weld.
Try this first as it is the easiest and cheapest option.

I have some 4" stainless, but it's only 2mm thick.
You're more than welcome to it, probably enough to maybe do a couple or three layers if required. Will measure spare tomorrow, as I still have
another can to make

John, it needs to be this thick so i can lathe a 1mm step in it then drill and tap it to make the endplate easily removable.
Bad picture time(paint at it's best), the bit I need to get is in the middle, the Blue line mark where it'll be welded to the end plate and
the red pegs and circles will be the tapped holes. I hope that's a clear as mud

We use allot of stainless scheduled pipe at work. Having a quick look at the tables, we would definitely have 4" Sch10s 316L which is 114.3mm OD
and wall thickness 3.05mm and also the is a possibility we may have sch40s which is 6.02mm wall thickness. If the sizes are OK let me know and I will
get you some sorted.
