ZX12r oil system

I am mounting my kawasaki zx12r motor longitudinal, i have a few questions and concerns regarding the oil feed. I know that i will need a baffled sump at the minimum but do i have to go dry sumped or just shorten and baffle the standard sump and fit an Accusump system. Also, how do i find which year engine i have, i was told it was an 04 but would like find out for myself.

Nice engine

Is there a Haynes for that engine yet? Useful thing to have, and they usually document how to work out what engine code relates to which year.
Otherwise e-mailing / writing to the manafacturer usually works...

We have an 04 ZX12R engine in an MK Indy with just a shortened and baffled sump, a modified PRV and a slight overfill of oil. We have done trackdays and drag days without sign of any oil problems whatsoever (so far).

To find the year of your engine, give Kawasaki UK a ring and quote your engine number. They're really helpful.

If you need any further info or details on this engine, feel free to ask and we'll help if we can.

Phil
