Cracking race footage

One of my favourite bits of race footage ever, and it's on Youtube! Neil Crompton in the HDT Holden Commodore passing one of the Shell-sponsored Sierra Cosworth RS500s at Bathurst in 1991. Listen to that V8 howl, send shivers up yer spine!!!

From memory, the Eggenberger cars were eliminated at post race scrutineering due to irregularities in wheel arches. Regards, Al

can't believe they are interviewing the bloke while he's racing!

is it me or does that track have a distinct lack of run off?

I've driven Bathurst twice now (both times I went to Oz) and it is the most awe inspiring place. YOu can park your car up at McPhillamy Park and walk to the edge of the racetrack. From there, the pit straight and garages look chuffin' TINY! The Dipper is one of the steepest and sharpest bends I've ever seen on a race track and Conrod straight is just awesome. I defy anybody who has smidgeon of petrol running through their veins to come to the top of Conrod and not want to just floor it. Sadly, the local cops are quite strict and there is a 60 kph speed limit all the way round.
Cossiebri, as stated before the Eggenberger works team were eliminated for non-homologated body parts and also, in the words of Neil Crompton who was commentating that year, "the sample of fuel from the fuel bottle was OK, the sample from the vent bottle blew the hydrometer off the clock" so they were stripped of their results for infringing the rules.
Now, one could say it was the Aussies with their noses out of joint, and I'd like to think the CAMS officials tested the Holden and Aussie-based Sierra teams just as stringently
There's plenty of footage of Bathurst on Youtube, type in Bathurst, Dick Johnson racing, Peter Brock, Mark Skaife, Larry Perkins or Bathurst 1000

CONROD STRAIGHT!!!

Oh my god!

Makes the hairs on my neck stand up just thinking about it!

Lucky for me there was not any coppers around so plenty of tyre screaching.

Trying to stop at the bottom of conrod was very scary

If anyone goes to OZ, Go to BATHURST!
