orange boadband

can any one give me a bit of advise i connected the orange live box up yesterday a my mums she has a toshiba laptop with a buit in wireless adapter (not centrino) i can get the laptop connect by the earthnet cable internet works great.dirrerent story trying to connect wireless ive had the live box in pairing mode click on wireless connections put in the wep key just says aquiring network address for ages then limited or no connectivity.

turned the secuity off on live box turned off firewalls ect it sometimes connects but only in pairing mode once paring mode finishes say 10 mins boots you off again.

rung orange but they dont support 3rd party wireless adapters any one ideas.

or can you suggest a adapter that would plug in to the usb socket a good one and use that instead

Did you use capitals on the WEP key? I tried it loads of times and then used capitals and it worked first time!

Worth a try.

i know you mention turning off the security but I know on my dads i had to fully disable Panda anti virus to get it to work. It kept kicking you off after 2 or 3 mins and then would not reconnect.

she is using macfee i turned off the settings one by one
antivirus
firewall
spam
privacy section

mnr did you select wep or wap settings on the livebox?

I just left the box as the factory settings.

I had a similar problem with my orange livebox, in my case it was because windows wouldn't recognise the livebox because i was trying to connect using the software that came with the USB adapter. I unistalled this and connected through windows wireless zero configiration. Worked no probs after that.
