chain needed for engine hoist
hi everyone
has anyone got a chain that I can borrow this weekend for hoisting my engine? how much to borrow it etc..? I live in cambridgeshire..

i used some tow rope and it did the job
or you could use a old seat belt. its up to you .

I used an orange ratchet strap for holding things on roof racks raped round a few times worked a treat but seat belt would be just as good.

thanks unfortunately the roof within the garage hasnt got any poles to hoist on otherwise that would be ideal, hence looking for some chains as
i've got an engine hoist.

seat belts work just as good and a simple knot here and there

Mackays on East Road in Cambridge sell Chain in any length from two links upwards. If its just for lifting the engine, the 6mm or 8mm chain is good.
Its what I used, and its not expensive.
I use some cheap shackles and old car seat belts. as well. They are on the other wall near the chain as you go in the back doors from their carpark
in New St.
Seat belts were recovered from the scrap yard
1. The point of a journey is not to arrive.
2. Never take life seriously. Nobody gets out alive anyway.

u have u2u, I use those loose nylon bag strops, got them from ebay for a few quid and have used them lots of times on the hoist, they are also a bit
kinder on the shiny bits

Used a 1-1/4" nylon strap from a ratcheting Cargo strap, knotted the ends with a toggled bend to make a continuous sling, (you may need to
thread through lifting eyes before the knot) then pass through crane hook, this way you have sling rating times 4 (slightly reduced due to angle)
Just make sure you have your CG centered, so the motor does not shift.
Beware of what you wish.. for it may come true....
