Sierra brakes and hubs

Thinking about donor parts for Sierra based Seven type kit (possible MK Indy)and have got round to brakes and hubs. I have some questions (forgive me if I'm going over old ground but I don't find the search facility on Locostbuilders that easy because so many threads and after viewing one thread on search when I go back it cancels the search ?)

1) I have heard that it is possible to convert rear Sierra drums to discs. How easy is this to do and what Ford bits or non-standard bits do you need ?

2) What would be the optimum standard Ford Sierra discs/calipers that could be used (Cosworth 2WD, Cosworth 4x4, XR4x4 etc) and would these discs/calipers fit ANY Sierra hubs (assuming you had converted the rears to take discs and assuming that all Sierra hubs are the same ?

Am asking these questions because then potentially I could start by obtaining any Sierra donor car rather than looking for a rarer model with rear discs.

Cheers

Angus

when you click back, just press the f5 button to refresh the page and you will see the other results in search.

Also most people go for the thin 12mm rear discs and calipers.

Welcome

Sierra and Granada rear hubs are the same, just the drive plate different, ie, 4 or 5 stud. So don't feel restricted to sierra's for spares. And the brake set up is basically the same just 4 or 5 holes in the rear discs.
