R1 and Digidash (rpm)

Hi all.

My digidash can't read my 2003 R1 rpm correctly, especially while deccelarating.
I remember to read somewhere that there was a special gizmo being prepared at ETB Instruments to surpass this.

I tried the search engine but I was not lucky.
Anyone?

Cheers,
Joao

Hi Joao

What does it do, just stick a bit as it gets towards idle? Mine seems to do that and doesn't drop below 16-1700rpm indicated when in fact the engine is idling at ~1200.

Mine's a Digidash 1 so I doubt there's a fix but there may be an update for a Digidash 2. Have a chat with ETB and ask them, they're very helpful.

cheers

Chris

It's not mentioned on their site as it only effects the 2003 R1 so you'll need to email or call them and ask about it ("Yamaha R1 RPM Signal Conditioning Module" ).
I think mine was under £30 a couple of months back. Unfortunately, I've not got round to fitting it so can't confirm it makes a difference.

It's about 40x40x20mm with power, earth, input and output leads.

Martin.

Thanks.
I'll call tomorrow.
Do you know what is the voltage output?

Thanks,
Joao

Hi.

Just called John @ ETB - very helpful! - and:
A) Signal is clearer if read is taken from the injector (pulse side - orange / black IIRC) [ALTHOUGH it should be taken from the ignition code input - ecu ]

B) Conditioner Module is necessary for accurate readings at lower RPM

I've got a DD2 Lite bought Feb last year and needs a firmware upgrade (free) - shipping is at a cost, though - which also will help achieving better readings.

Thanks,
Joao
