Veeeeeeeery interestink.
Build your own powder coating gun for <£250 and spray it.
Looks an interesting bit of kit and nicely made too.

There was a stand at Donnington selling a complete DIY powder coating kit for £99. The demo looked pretty good. 10 minutes in your kitchen oven and
job's a good 'un.

i have a pal who works in a powder coating place and will do me anything for free i was thinking of buying this and just getting some powder from him
as he gets loads of homers and its a prob if his work is useing a diferent couloue as he need to stop the line and that pises his boss off lol but
with this he just stocks up with powder makeing his boss happy as hes not slowing down production .
the problem is i will coat evrything i know what im like with a spray gun at the best of time lol

I picked one up from Newark-along with about 5 bags of powder for work educational purposes you all understand  and have been keen to get it into
action - those kids eyes will light up when they see the possibilities !!!
We have an oven purely for warming plastic etc just need to knock upa booth to catch over sprayed powder.
By a strange coincidence I was burning some paint and oil off an old rocker cover this morning (eco warrior or what??) and I have the discoloured top
of a pancake chrome filter to do too, also some essex rocker covers....
If I get it going I'll stick some pics up on here, the bloke said to spray old metal with zinc phosphate first so it should be an interesting
exercise!!

Or a 3kW Infra Red heater and do it in stages - this is what i'll be doing as i am gonna buy an Electrostaticmagic kit myself and have had a
good chat with the bloke. You could use a 1.3kW patio heater but it will take longer.

you can also buy ceramic powders like those used for exhausts in diffrent colours,
use them for parts of the engine, wishbones etc,
a lot tougher than the powder coating
if i remember correctly you mix them with water and paint it on then in the oven at 200 F and leave for about four hours,
I'm to old to live and to young to die --- buggerit

If you blow a stream of powder and apply a static charge to it, presumably if you got the charge high enough you could conduct through the powder
(like the lit match in the microwave experiment)...
so if it doesn't work as a DIY powdercoat gun just ramp up the power and you get Star Wars emporer stylee lightening bolts. I like it!!
ps Don't do the match experiment if you like your microwave. I destroyed the Magnetron in mine doing it!!!!

Lets not forget its a cheap process these days, certainly cheaper than painting.
Retro RWD is the way forward...........automotive fabrication, car restoration, sheetmetal work, engine conversion

Well worth the investment for those just starting their build though hey? I intend doing pretty much everything from chassis through suspension to all
the little brackets etc. I recon the cost overall will be cheaper than painting.
