Got me a Shelby

So I get to Hertz car rental In Washington DC and what do they have sat there just waiting to be rented - and it's the convertible version.

Never driven anything with a big American V8 - so I'm a very happy chap - awesome sound system too with satelite radio.

Mind you - total crap car really - sounds great, looks god and goes like stink - but the interior is still 1980's European car....

BTW - you can't post images in 'Anything Else' then? Rescued attachment 11-2006-ford-shelby-mustang-gt-h-gt350h.jpg

It ain't cheap - but then it is a business trip - $900 for 7 days - that's without the CDW insurance which I don't need as my Amex card covers it.

You can get a regular V6 Mustang for $350 a week - it's 4L and only 200bhp - how do Yanks manage to get so little power from so much engine ......

they told me i could upgrade to a hummer if i wanted

ps dont bother with a convertible if you're in florida, far too hot. You need aircon on full!

A friend of mine

Tim's just bought a Jeep with the economical 4 litre straight 6 engine

yours, Pete

I went into the RSPCA office the other day. It was so small you could hardly swing a cat in there.

Had the roof down today, driving through the Blue Ridge Mountains - did lots of overtaking just to hear the engine hit 6k rpm

Mind you - I'm only getting 16mpg

Well yeah - I might have done

Do you mean a curry, or just a nice Native American chap

Off out for a nice cold beer to stave off the jet lag now.

Jon - Everything all right with your missus now?

She is on the mend, told up to 6 months for full recovery, it cost me a trip to China and would have been in Shanghai for the GP. We have an unbelievable storey to tell from start to finish, a 2 week honeymoon that turned into a month long 3 center disaster. We flew back via New York, (big seats required for missus) called into news agents, some sweets n a drink, cost ? $9-11........

Where you staying ? I was working in a pharmaceutical factory just as you drop out of the mountains on the opposite side to Charlottesville, there was a garage near by that sold those iccle caravans you tow behind a Harley. I also had the miss fortune of having some yank GM gutless hire car...........Great bends or what ? those wagons are a tad big though.

My friend part-exed his ZT400 for a TVR T350, and within a week rang up the guy he got the TVR from and asked if he could buy the MG back as he missed it so much! Got both sitting on his drive at the moment

Sounds like a nightmare ....

Started in Richmond on Tuesday, Roanoke last night, on to Galax today. A little bit of work and quite a lot of fun - just the way I like it and it's 80 deg and sunny ....perfect!

And the Shelby even handles reasonably well (for a Yank tank). Even though it's an auto you can still get the rear wheels to light up at traffic lights - I know I've been practicing
