oh great $50,000 just to own a flying car that doesn't even fly or even do anything once the length of extension cord has run out...

I'd rather have a x-wing fighter prop.

don't write OT on a new thread title, you're creating the topic, everything you write is very much ON topic!

Last one

This is the last one out of three. All of the flight testing with the other two resulted in crashes. I dunno why people throw money at projects like this. The other one is the Moller SkyCar and it's just as big a pile of shite. Millions of dollars spent and its still no more than 30' off the ground on a tether. Without any actual flying properties, ie wings and stuff, if one of the fans stop turning, the bastard will fall like a brick. Why spend $6,000,000 just to find that out?

Same could be said for helicopters, but somebody made them a success...

helicopters are ok without power so long as the blades stay in one piece

I'll show you a man who says different. He was training in a Robinson when the engine cut out and it fell 30' like a brick. They were in a field owned by his friend at the time and luckily only the helicopter was broken.

yours, Pete

I went into the RSPCA office the other day. It was so small you could hardly swing a cat in there.

You do need enough height to get the blades to auto-rotate - 30 ft is NOT enough! That's probably the worst time to lose power - if you're high enough you can auto-rotate, if you're very close to the ground then you just get a hard landing. In between...

Helicopter - 10,000 spare parts flying in loose formation.

Only true if you are at high enough altitude to get the rotors up to autorotate speed by a rapid decent - then you get just one chance to pull out and make a half decent landing.

Not something I'd exactly describe as "OK" without power.

ETA just as David stated above - please tell me it didn't take me 20 minutes to compose that post?!?!
