Bolt size for sierra upright

does any one know the size and strength rating of the bolt that clamps the mushroom insert into the upright?

M8 ? 8.8?

is it metric or imperial?

I have to find a new longer one that will allow the wing stay to be mounted properly

i need to change the camber settings and i was going to pop the insert out and rotate the top ball joint to the required lenght to correct the camber, and this seems the correct time to replace the bolt.

what lenght should i be looking for?

IIRC you'll need a set screw as opposed toa bolt - i.e. threaded along the full length.

M12 x 80mm rings a bell (maybe M10, but certainly not M8) as being long enough to go through the upright and leave enough length to fit the wing stay and nylock.

many thanks, i will have to find a specialist fixing supplier in the Ipswich area, the one i knew was in bury st edmunds where i started the build. i have now moved 40 miles and don't want to drive all that way

thinking back i did buy some long M10 and M12 set screws when i started my build, i will have to check all my boxes of bits that i have lying around.

i'm pretty certain mine was M12x1.75

length depends whether you want a full nyloc or a half nut with plenty of loctite.

It's M12 and one side of the upright is threaded, so you technically don't need a nut at all, but as said, you need extra length on the bolt to attach your wing stay.

yer its threaded on both sides, but i will have to allow for a full nyloc nut..

i misunderstood the instructions MK gave me and placed the stay between the two sides of the upright with the bolt running throught the centre of it

i just want to correct the error, though it seems to be holding well

this is why i had problems with the wing stay fouling the track rod ends and having to limit the turning circle for the SVA.
