Nothing in the quaint seaside fishing village of Blith.

But I can see the Cheviot from my window, and it's white!

Cheers

its snowing

Snowed here yesterday, the pathe to my shop is now 18" below the top of the snow, by the way it snowed the three days before that. The funny thing is we are right at the 45th parallel, which is I believe south of you. The problem is two of the larger Great Lakes are just west of here, strong west wind, lots of snow.

i was driving from stranraer to kelso on tuesday evening, one minute driving the van like it was rally uk, next we'd pulled up for a snowball fight in the mountains! It was the most amazing scenery, pitch dark, mountains on both sides, and the best snow for making hard balls from

it was the road from moffat to selkirk.

I am told by my sister's significant other who lives in Cornwall Ontario that we have the gulf stream to thank for it being so much milder than Canada in the winter.

I don't know that road [A708 I assume]

but the Moffat to Penicuik road [A701] is one of my favourites - 40 miles of as long as you time it to avoid the tourists

and the A712 is from New Galloway to Newton is 20 miles of mostly single track roads in the middle of nowhere - and it doesn't get gritted in winter as far as I can tell

but you can't really call those 'hills' mountains - most of the big ones are only 400 to 600m high

OH YES. A few times on this road SWMBO has felt seasick. It's gotta be one of the all time scottish roads to DRIVE. Aprt from the bit coming up to where the sheepdog place used to be. A double dip that just about ripped the arse out of my Carlton estate when towing the caravan Yeah yeah i know.

the best bit has to be the 'beef tub', it gets the adrenalin going - even driving slowly

and the 701 is it is the quickest way to the M74/ M6 so that's a perfect excuse to drive it nearly every time your going south of the border

There are lots of bits up north that could beat it, but they are normally full of tour busses and caravans (going both ways so that you can't overtake)

I like the way that at certain points you can see SO FAR along the valley that you've got quite a good warning of traffic coming your way. Lots of changes of direction and ups and downs as well.
