You can do it quickly. You can do it cheap. You can do it right. – Pick any two.

I crashed several cars at that age - none of which had even 100 BHP what chance does an 18 year old stand with 500BHP

well I wonder what kind of idiot lets their 18 year son drive a car like that. Might as well handed him a loaded gun to play with.

I'd jail the father for culpable homicide

Jail or not, the father will be paying for life. No jail term could touch that punishment.

It wasn't a case of if, it was when, and how bad.

That is quite possibly the most depressing thread I've read on any forum!

Perhaps (and I know it's a bit late for the five kids concerned and their families), and I don't want to be a killjoy, but perhaps the manufacturers of this type of car (not just BMW) could have a secondary map in the options list for kids when driving.

Yeah, thats terrable isnt it. And what a way to slowly work out who it was.

I crashed this christmas, at relativly slow speeds, but it could all have been very much diffrent. Part of the fence i slid into came though the windscreen rather alarming close to my head. Doesnt even bear thinking about.

If we wanted to overtake a car we needed 2 miles clear vision with 50 hp

A M5 isn't just a playing toy with 500 hp.
The most of us would agree that a HP limit isn't really the solution.

I hope my kids will grow older....
And will have friends around them who wants the same...
