Change of body

Hi Folks,
I need some advice here. If i were to get an old mini , then cut it in half and make it into a pick up
(dont ask, lol), do i have to change anything on the log book/ taxation class etc? I have no idea and can't seem to find out.

Cheers,
Slider.

no I don't think anything else would change, unless you tried to claim it was a commercial vehicle for taxation, but that might make them suspicious and next thing you know you’ve lost the original reg, got a Q plate and a heap of hassle.

I remember a VW golf that ended up with a Q plate due to him fitting gullwing doors, not quite even in the league of what your proposing either.

Nah, i dont want it to be a commercial but didnt know if it would have to be.

Now then, what if the floor pan of said mini was sooooo rotten that it had to be cut out and repaired with, um, i dunno, a load of nice tube steel perhaps?

If you modify the chassis you should have an SVA. This has been discussed several times recently and the outcome is always that you will get away with it up until you have an accident at which point you will be in very deep do-do You will be driving around essentially unregistered and uninsured.
