Diff code U is it a 3.38:1

As title really.

I keep an eye out for rarer bargain sierra bits when wondering around scrap yards.

I found an early mark II yesterday with the 2.3L diesel engine. The Vinplate code for the axle said U is this a 3.38:1 ?

I tried to get at the diff tag to have a look but with no wheels on it and another car on top I decided not to

I must take a list of codes with me next time

there was confusion some years ago when a wrong list was posted, and then people got confused what was right. A and V are both 3.3*.

Sorry for asking what might sound like a dumb question. I have used a 1.8 sierra pinto and my diff code is 88BG 4033 AE. I know diff codes have been covered a few times on here but i can't find mine. Lol. Hope someone can help.....
