Transit diff ratio
Help, anybody in the know... My brother got a cheap but OK diesel transit chassis cab & he's very happy with it, except, the gearing is
incredibly low! I've checked the diff & it's about 5.7:1. Is this for real???? It's the one with double wheels if you know what
I mean, can't remember the reg, probably about 10 yrs old.
Anyway - anybody know what ratios might be locatable in scrappies - this thing is screaming its nuts off & won't get to 60...

Chassis cab Transits often had a 5.8 ratio on a Twin wheel set up
You can replace with 5.1 or 4.63
there are no other ratios for the older twin wheel axle
like all Ford axles there may be a tag with the ratio bolted to the back plate, unless its rusted or missing etc.
hope this helps

Look for the diff from the minibus variant as it uses the 4.6 ratio
I fitted one of these to a 190 high top which had a 5.1 fitted, but it pulled the 4.6 no problem (although it was the turbo engine)
