Hi

There doesn't seem to be an introductions page, so I thought I'd post here!

Hi, I'm Gareth from Surrey.

I'm currently in the process of resurrecting my first car - a Sylva Striker. I built it when i was 16 and used it as my first car for a year or so running a Ford X-flow bored out to 1700cc.
Was good fun for a year until the engine went bang.

It has since then sat in the garage for 8 years waiting for an engine rebuild!!

I've finally found some spare cash that i can use to bring the project back to life, so have invested in a spanky new 1800cc Zetec engine and a Type 9 gearbox.

So far this forum has been invaluable with regard to sourcing parts. So i've also picked up a Sierra CVH starter motor, a Sierra spigot bearing and a CCT133 clutch release bearing.
the engine already had an 1800 Zetec flywheel and clutch which i believe are both usable with the parts i've sourced?

Are there many Striker owners on the forum?
Come on, lets see a show of hands?

Hello Gareth, welcome to the mad house.

I feel a bit of deja vu here... I too used to live in Chertsy and had Striker that sat in the garage waiting for engines for 10 years!

A windfall of cash saw me build a new one however but I have chosen the same power plant as yourself and I can concur the setup you describe will all bolt together and work as henry intended... Only thing I would ask is it an Escort 1.8 or Mondeo variant?

Mondeo 1.8 has a different sump, water pump which are not much use in a small car like a Striker.

best thing to do is bolt it all together and see if the clutch works OK.

My Striker went to a fellow Locostbuilder who post on here the odd time.

Good luck,
Steve

The engine is a blacktop Focus engine. A brand new surplus engine that ford were selling off.
The sump appears to be a two piece affair.

The water pump has the smooth pulley on it so looks to turn clockwise, not sure if this is the right one or not?

I will bolt everything together and have a go, as soon as i can find some bolts......
