steel box painting

Hi guys.
Im in the process of constructing a box cover for my seven trailer out of 1" box and ali sheet.
The steel work has been painted with red oxide as Ive welded it. What the best option for painting on top now?
I was thinking hamerite or just gloss paint (por15 seems to expensive)
Do I need to prime on top of the red oxide or can I just gloss on top
Thanks.

Make sure the steel is well coated with red oxide then gloss it, it should be enough protection for what you need.
I doubt whether hammerite would be much better in those circumstances IMHO.
