Caliper binding (pt2)
Right - another run today now I've got the alternator fixed.
Front nearside brake started binding again.
I cracked off the bleed nipple (it spurted out) and it released so I'm guessing I have either a caliper or brake line issue.
The brakes are brand new - Wilwood calipers so I guess its possible that I have a faulty unit?
Whats the easiest way of locating the fault?

Check the master cylinder push rod isn't too long or the pedal stop, if it has one isn't restricting pedal return.

Had a similar problem on my old fury, turned out it needed a return spring on the brake pedal to bring it back to its stop.
Bought a new set of calipers before i found out what it was doh!!!

are the brake discs true if not this will also cause binding when hot, you will usually get a vibration though

The discs are new and I assume they are true. I got the Wilwood sierra upgrade kit from Rally Designs.
I've not replaced the other components which all worked fine with the old setup, only the calipers and discs changed but I'll have a good
check around.

If you have a bias bar, check that everything can move as it should - mine has a habit of sticking which causes the pressure not to release properly
and i get the same issue - albeit on both wheels.

Just fixed my binding brakes - initially I blamed the caliper as only one locked up. Rebuilt them both and still had the problem. So took the master
cylinder apart cleaned out a bit of gunk and fiddled with the bias bar and it now seems okay - although I haven't got all the air out.

Does your car have sierra uprights? I got the wilwood kit from RD for my old car and the caliper mounts were the wrong size meaning on pad was
pressing on the disc.....

Don't get diverted it is a hydraulic problem at the mastercylinder end something is stopping the master cylinder piston fully returning.
Next time it happens try
(1) pulling the brake pedal up.
If that dosen't work try
(2) Letting the trapped pressure out via the pipe union on the master cylinder.
If either works you know 100% it is at the master cylinder end -- can't be caliper or flexible hoses.

The pedalis returning correctly - the pedal feel gets firmer when the brakes bind.
I'll try the master-cylinder release next to see if this releases them before doing anything else.
Although a call to Rally Designs about the use of Banjo's on Wilwoods is probably in order.
Weather permitting I'll try and get out again later this week and pinpoint the fault.
Thanks for your replies guys.
