vr sensor + trigger wheel set up
evening guys ,
just a quick question, as per previous posts regarding my megasquirt edis conversion, im a little confused regarding the vr sensor and trigger wheel
set up,
i've read some websites that say you should mount the sensor @ tooth 9 after the missing tooth when cyclinder 1 is at tdc, and others say you
should mount the sensor @ tooth 9 before the missing tooth,
so which is it?
p.s running pinto with clockwise crank rotation
I love Pinto's, even if i did get mine from P&O!

Tooth 9 is another way of saying 90 degrees. The aim is to tell the ECU 90 degrees before the engine gets to TDC. Its just a way of making sure the
ECU knows TDC is on its way. If it triggered at TDC the signal would reach the ECU after actual TDC - does that make any sense?

You dont have to mount the VR sensor at 90 degrees before the TDC marker - this is not convenient. I think all i did was put engine at TDC, wind it
back to 90deg before, then find good place to put the sensor and align the missing tooth to the sensor.

google is your frined.
The following graphic illustrates how the sensor position and missing tooth can vary relative to engine TDC- regardless of where the sensor is
mounted, the missing tooth must be positioned accordingly.

Quite simply - at top dead , the missing tooth will be 90 degrees past the sensor - just be sure to read your engine rotation correctly

this is my setup on a pinto, with the engine at TDC (well just about, the centre of the VR should be in the centre of the tooth)
