bloody fuel

Took the car out for a short drive to fill up, the first two petrol stations were dry so tried one more and the queue was seriously long so turned around to come home, about 2/3rd of the way back I ran out!!!

I had to walk home about 2 miles, get my bike and a fuel can and cycle back to the queue, seriously pissed off with myself for 1. not stopping in the first place, 2. having the fuel sender set incorrectly, 3. for even bothering to try and get petrol this weekend.

While walking back to the car some 2hours later having put £6.53 worth of fuel in and dropped my bike home, I was thinking how quickly cars could become completely worthless if fuel availability became a continuous problem- I'm just glad I don't have a £20K car sat on the drive.

rant over

Whereas the oil industry think that world fuel oil production will peak in about 5 years.

You watch when oil gets in short supply, the oil companies will look harder for new oilfields.

They've been doing that for the last 30 years. At some point, obviously, that's going to not be possible anymore.
Then they'll either have to find a way to extract from the Athabasca Oil Sands or find a real alternative.

Filled up at Sainsbury's - no problem. While I was there there was a BP tanker at a pump taking on diesel. Oh the irony

Every supermarket around Ipswich had queues today. Just about every non-supermarket petrol station had petrol and no queues. There was even a Shell garage 3p a litre cheaper than most others around town, with just 2 or 3 cars on the forecourt!
