Wishbones

I'm having a decision crisis!

Do I buy front wishbones or make them??

And where is the best place to source them if buying?

Please help

Cheers,
JB

I'd buy them if I were you. Been out of the loop for ages, so not sure who the current favourite is. I bought MK ones.

Whereabouts in Wilts are you?

Regards, Ian.

I'm about an hour from you, down near Shaftesbury. I've a set of Sierra uprights, and a diff if you are still looking for parts.

Regards,

Ian.

Depends on what dimensions you need I suppose, if standard and available at reasonable cost from MK (or wherever) that would certainly be the easiest option, but they are not that difficult (or expensive) to make yourself.
Is it your own chassis (book, +4, Haynes?)?

If Rally Design actually have in stock (don't bother if they haven't cos you may be in for a long wait.....) the GTS ones in their catalogue I'd get a set of them. I briefly had a set before I sold them on and they were among the best Locost wishbones I've seen both in terms of actual construction and design.

Does depend though if you have brackets on your chassis already as, if you do, you're best buying them from whoever made the chassis or they may not fit..... bit difficult I know if it's a home made chassis but in that case it's well worth double checking the dimensions you have with the person selling you the wishbones.

Alex,

I've started building using the 442 McSorley drawings. I have both the Bob C and Chris G books so am spoilt for choice really! As mentioned in other threads, I have Cortina uprights and brakes for front, live axle (at the moment), escort steering rack and column, and a Sierra OHc + 5-speed box.

Ian, I've U2U'd you.

Cool, another 442

I think I've still got my cad drawings for extended length wishbones (cortina based) if they are any use to you?
Should also have drawings for fitting the sierra diff (with Dedion) somewhere if required?

Cheers
