pinto Megajolt problem
Hi all.
I've had months of perfect running, then suddenly on the way back from a show, it starts running on 2 cylinders, eventually dies..
Left to sit for a while and cool down, it seems to run again fine for 5 mins then it happens again..
I've changed the coilpack from the later push on boots, to the earlier clip-on, thinking the coil might have packed up, ran fine for a while,
then all over again..
What is going on..? could the EDIS be failing..
I've redone all the earth connections, thinking it might be some corrosion somewhere..no change.
Deffinately seems to fail when it gets upto operating temperature..
ideas...help

have you tried changing the cap on the coil ?

Have you tried unplugging the Megajolt when its running rough?
It should then revert to limp home mode just using the EDIS...
If it continues to run or runs better it indicates Megajolt thats kiling it, if it dies then its most likely the EDIS.
Thats about the best test I can think of.

Are you sure the fuelling is ok? it could be the pump vapor locking and causing fuel starvation.
If it iis ignition related then assuming the coilpack is ok I would suspect the edis rather than the megajolt.Megajolt only alters the ignition timing
by sending a signal to the Edis to modify the default timing settings, if it goes wrong the Edis will switch to the default 10 deg timing.As stated
the Edis will run the engine on its own completely disconected from the megajolt.
