Cheapest Harnesses?

I want to replace my 4 point (but normal buckle) 2 inch harnesses with some 4 point, 3 inch 'race buckle' style harnesses. Budget is an issue as always so I want to find the best-priced ones available.

Ebay has a few sets for around £65 but they're for saloons so will be too long. After that it's all £100+ territory. I know harnesses potentially save your life, but regardless of the price I'm assuming they all must pass some sort of safety standard so surely the more expensive ones are due to a brand-name or Kudos? I'm also loathe to pay for some 'dated' ones when the car will never be used for any Motorsport.

I was hoping that as race season is over there would be some second hand out of date ones on Ebay but alas not at the moment.

I welcome your thoughts or any recommendations.

As a very happy customer I can't recommend these highly enough Prima/ Titon 4 point

They make them to order so any 'tweaks' can be added, lengths (within reason) can be changed etc....and the price is very good

They are FIA and IVA approved so quality is not a compromise you will have to make

I have a set for sale. The link below is to my original post on here. No one was interested at the time and I never got around to listing them again. Just to be clear the price is for two sets (driver and passenger), not a single pair (as in two shoulder straps for one person).

Note that when they say that they are for motor sport only, they mean that they are not public road legal. I have no idea what that means in terms of quality control of the product, but I decided not to risk them when I was looking. Partially because of concerns about quality (and I may well be wrong, but its my life) and partially because I didn't want to fail a future MOT and have to start again.

Regards
Steve

They worry me to be honest, no mention of any standard, not even a CE mark (although I don't know whether that applies here). The 'motorsport only' just sounds like an excuse to sell something that looks pretty.

I've got some Titon/Prima ones sat in a box in the garage. Dated but surplus to requirements.
They're for a kit car and wrap around tales. Were you after 4/5/6 point?

Re: "road legal" or not, FIA approval is acceptable on its own now, according to the latest iva manual. So separate "road legal" rating shouldn't be required anymore as far as I can see.

"Note 1:
A British Standard BS3254 Part 1 1988 or evidence of FIA 8853-98 approval for a harness belt is acceptable"

"...an acceptable alternative to any of the seat belt types listed is an adult harness belt comprising a lap belt and shoulder straps providing the anchorages satisfy section 19."

Hope so anyway, mine only have FIA approval...
