leaking zetec thermostat housing

My thermostat housing is dripping coolant (1.8 zetec silvertop), I can't tell exactly where it's coming from though. It's a brown bakerlite looking lump.

Before I pull it apart to look at it in more detail, are there any gaskets or special sealants I need to use to re-assemble it?

Any other advice????

thanks
Keith.

Why do they call Port Harcourt "The Garden City"?...... Becauase they can't spell Stramash.

is it the plastic one? if so they have a o ring against the head, could be this leaking but i had one that had been done up to tightly and actually hair line cracked the plastic casing which only leaked when i cleaned it.

Quite common, there is a tiny lip of plastic that holds the seal in place that breaks, causing the seal to distort and allow water out.
