2.0l zetec/type 9

hi all as the title says i have a type 9 gearbox and a zetec 2.0l blacktop (1993)
i have tried numerous searches as to what parts to use to mate these but cant get a stright answer just wondered if anyone could clear up my queries once and for all
i know i need a zetec 1.8 flywheel as they are lighter but...
1) which clutch
2) release bearing
3) starter motor
4) alternator
5) any other parts i have forgotten to mention
ect any help would be great, to be fitted to a se7en type car (mnr/mk)
also the best/easy way to sort the reverse water pump issue.
many thanks,

Lewis.

This is mine...

1. Mondeo 1.8 cover and plate
2. Capri
3. DOHC or CVH Sierra
4. Mine is a Brise on a custom bracket. Zetec alternators are ECU controlled so no good for our applications. Any small jap denso unit can be squeezed in.
5. Reverse water pump issue is easy with an idler, no need to muck about with the pump.

Your welcome to come look at mine or if your going up to MNR to enquire I can probably meet you there as long as its not in the next 2 weeks

There's some info and pics in my blog you can look at. Any questions just ask!

Cheers,
Steve

5. I think Blacktop zetecs were introduced in the second half of 1996 (not 1993) - so you will need to think about getting a CAT too.

I used 1.8 zetec and type 9
Clutch cover from the 1.8 zetec
Flywheel from the zetec
clutch plate from the CVH donor
Starter from CVH donor
Alt from CVH donor
Alt bracket from CVH donor (although it is a bit heavy)
Release Bearing from Capri CT 133
Spigot bearing from ebay FINIS code 1554973
the 1.8 zetec water pump spins the right way so you just need to correct length belt to go over the 3 pulley wheels, mine is 5 PK 940. 5 means the number of ribs and the 940 is the length in mm. Most motor factors will supply different lenght belts.

Hope this helps!

Why do they call Port Harcourt "The Garden City"?...... Becauase they can't spell Stramash.

^ What he said. If it is a blacktop it is not '93.

Forgot to say, mines a blacktop from 2003, different but same list of parts and principle as an earlier silvertop 1993.

My 2.0l black top zetec was manufactured in June 1995 so doesn't need a Cat which was a requirement from July 1995.

I thought silver tops were fitted in Ford road cars until 1998.

The reason I think that is because had a new R Plate GTI Escort with a late Silvertop rocker cover and a new S Plate Mondeo 2.0 with a backtop (Zetec E) under the bonnet.
