Pinto engine replacement

Hi,
I have an Indy with a Pinto and a type 9 gear box which I use as a track car. Basically I need allot more power and want to swap the engine. I need a new car for a few months while my every day car is being worked on and plan to use it's engine in the Indy when I don't need it any more. I have found a 2L 1994 Ford probe and a 2l mondeo Zetec but I'm not sure if the engines are compatible with the Sierra gear box. As I said above I would like much more power and I would be very grateful If you guys could let me know what you think and what engines you would use. Thanks in advance,
Aaron.

Go for the zetec, the probe engine was a variation on the old sierra twin cam 8v, but with a 16v top end, virtually no tuning parts for it.

Again I may be wrong but I thought the probe engine was Mazda bassed.

Mondeo all the way

Might be, I know at the time Ford were still messing with that twin cam unit, in various cars.

Thanks for the advice and the welcome guys, looks like it will be a zetec then. Couple more questions, will the zetec mate with my existing engine mounts and will the pinto exhaust mani fit the zetec, also I believe the Zetec 1.8 is 115 bhp and the 2L is 130 bhp. Will I notice a big difference between the two? I'm not sure what power the pinto (with ninja carbs) is running but am I correct in assuming that it would be less than 100 bhp?

The exhaust manifold off a pinto will not fit a zetec it fits the other side of the engine and different
the 2l inj pinto is 115bhp std with bike carbs up to about 130-135 bhp with hot cam and head work 150+ bhp
