Would love to be able to help, but presumably this is a bike engine of wot I know nothing?
The promised pic might give us some guidance

If the slave is hanging out at a mad angle then there's every chance it's come to the
end of it's travel and jammed leaving the clutch disengaged.
Hopefully if you straighten things up by doing the old bolts up things should be ok.
If not, then remove the slave and see if the gears drive thus indicating the slave
is the fault. If you still can't drive then there's summat wrong with the clutch itself.
Either way, bike clutches are easy to replace.

I've had a quick fiddle and can't seem to get the slave back in. Two of the bolts are still in, so it may just mean I need to have all 3
to pull it in properly. swmbo wouldn't let me near her camera with oily hands so no pics I'm afraid. The clutch has now engaged and I can
also find neutral, so at least some of the problem has been sorted. Just annoying that I may have to wait until next weekend to resume play. Got to
paint the walls so I can sell the house.

Right, now have the slave off and it looks ok. However, is it supposed to sit on a cut-off bit of casting? Looks like part of the sprocket housing?
Can anyone measure or tell me the length of the standard push rod on a bird clutch? Also, when I put the car into gear I can still turn the sprocket
round. Does this mean the clutch needs taking apart and reset/checked? Really not having much luck with this bl00dy car.
