You should contact IrvineD. He's got a nice workshop in Utrecht, car lift, Fury etc. It would be a stroke of luck if he had a spare hub.
Great guy, big and strong, a bit elusive though.. seems to have more money and holidays than most of us.

how much has it worn? is it 1mm all round? wondering if a strip of 1mm thick steel wrapped around the bearing and then pressed in might take up the
gap before toctite etc.
what happened to the epoxy/chemical metal stuff you put in? did it just break up?
any other cars share the same hubs? or any others that would work?
edit, er worried now, do you have to use bearing loctite whenever you put bearings into any aluminium hubs?

That wouldn't work....there is probably over a millimeter of wear....
And no chance of anyone having a spare hub - its a special that takes Rover 820 discs...
All I need is an hour on a decent sized lathe....

I feel a locostbuilders challenge coming on. I'll try and contact IrvineD - he's got plenty of friends in Utrech, and one of them must
have a lathe or know someone who does.
But as Dave says ......... he does have more holidays than the rest of us put together!

I'm in utrecht, and have a few spare bearings, i think i got rid of my spare hubs, but im sure i can help you find stuff if you need it.

OK outside of the box really but needs must. If you were to get a roll of kitchen foil and fold it till it was a bit thicker then wrap it round the
bearing with a bit of overlap to the inside ( so it pulls the foil in as you press the race in.)
Unorthodox but maybe just maybe enough to get you going.
If it looks wrong it probably is wrong.

cant you find a place that will weld it up then re-machine it. should be a pretty easy job and will be plenty god enough to get you home. if rally
design or hi-spec etc etc stock them i can go pick one up for you and send it next day delivery as i live in-between the two.
Anything With Tits or Wheels Will cost you MONEY!!

Could you get the hub machined out and a steel insert made (assuming enough material in the hub)? In the spirit of locost and using whatever is to
hand, I might be tempted to shim out the bearing with a bit of chopped up coke can + bearing fit. IME the bearing glue works very well as long as you
don't need much thickness.
FWIW, many years ago I went on a euro road trip with a friend in his 2.8i Capri. After a couple of hours cruising are rather high speeds down through
France we slowed down to take and exit of the autoroute and suddenly realised the loud droning noise wasn't the engine! Both front bearings had
become very loose, and we ended up stripping them down in the campsite and begged some grease of a backstreet garage to repack the bearings with.
Still a bit noisy afterwards, but they did a further 3000 miles without getting any worse.

I would hope that one of them will have club members that are local, and possibly have a lathe
Also by doing a search on here, Major is in Maasslus , and that appears to be closeish to you

Hang on, I just remembered I have a brand new pair of Escort alloy hubs and bearings that I've not yet fitted to my Striker; if you have an
address I could get them posted tommorow?

Thanks , but with standard Escort hubs I'd need a pair - and a pair of Capri 2.8 discs.....
As it stands right now , I had give up on getting it sorted by David Irvine - couldn't find a campsite anywhere near Utrecht , and there was no
way I was going to find my way into Utrecht in the evening just from directions.....in a car with near 10mm of movement at the rim .
So I'm heading home , I re-glued it last night when I found a campsite , just keeping my fingers crossed and driving slow

Well , I made it Dunkerque without any major problems - cruising behind trucks on the motorway sure does keep
the speed down....but I did at least break the 40mpg barrier !
Currently sitting outside a McDonald's pinching free wi fi , only just realized you don't have to go inside

Hmm I've had a busy week and seem to have missed this thread. As I might have been able to help out. Although not quite local to Apeldoorn, I
work in Meppel, about 70km north. And we do have some fairly large lathes there, which we are free to use in our spare time. Iow lunch breaks and for
about 2 hours after work till they lock up.
Really hope you get home save Clair. Never pleasant to get stranded, but much worse so abroad.
