making more leg room.

I need a few inches of extra legroom in my Locost, I am already looking at the plain grp seats which will gain me 1" by being able to sit right back. I am no looking at different pedal arrangements.

What setup would give me the best space? Its currently got sierra pedals I beleive. If not then its mk2 escort stuff.

thanks in advance
Jon

get rid of the seats completely? Make up a foam seat thats mounted directly on the rear cockpit panel?

No seats give the most leg room. Just pads.

Moving the front bulkhead and pedal box forward would new the next step.

yep, for real. use a plastic bin bag filled with polyurethane expanding foam, get in a comfy position, and have someone filled the bag with the foam liquid (usually 2 liquids you mix together and pour in. not sure how well cans of expanding foam from diy shops works though) sit there til the foam expands and sets, job done. you can the take the bag off and wrap with duct tape or something to help it last longer

don't write OT on a new thread title, you're creating the topic, everything you write is very much ON topic!

^^The 2 part foam that expands once mixed. Basic premise being to tip the 2 part into a heavy duty binbag then sit on it so when it expands it conforms to your body, it's supposed to be surprisingly comfy.
Theres afew threads on it, have a search for "expanding foam seat" or similar.

Edit: too slow

For sure. The "bench" type seats in Strikers are popular (the Striker is tiny!) and quite comfy. Personally I just used a Kirkey prodrag seat as the layback was exactly the same as the rear panel of the Locost. I only lost about 4-5cm.

As Ben mentioned - something like the Striker standard seats:

No more than some ply sheet, foam and a covering material stiched nicely.

I have just but foam based bench seats in mine and gave lost room, not much but its a loss. Before I had grp buckets where the base sat on the floor pan and the backs went right up to the bulkhead. They are so thin it was as good as having nothing there but comfy as hell. No padding just kind of fitted around me.

When the book first came out there was no fiberglass seats to be had and it was all hand made pad seats.

I think the fiberglass seats rob loads of space.

tiger still sell tham for there avons ect.

As soon as mine is iva'd it will be getting pads.
I would sooner have a numb arse than leg cramp.

As for moving the pedal box forward see

link

And at 6"3' no I am not taking the p1ss

my Fiat is very short on legroom

To max out the space available, Ive bought Wilwood master cylinders, they are a shorter than the standard ones, allowing the pedal box to go closer to the rack pinion.

Thanks Guys, I will take the seat out and see how it feelt sat on the floor. It would also mean im going to get less wind swept due to my stupid 6" high poly screen.
