I've seen a few zx12 lumps going for 1200 ish that would leave a bit left over for the install. Similar bhp to the newer 10 but bit more torque and proven to be reliable. I think the final drive may be more suitable?

Hi

Ahh a customer of "Mr Healy, purveyor of quality automobiles" - his 'showroom' is an experience isn't it?

If you sprint it it'll be in Sports Libre, cc class splits vary a bit but normally it's up to 1700cc for club meetings and up to 2L for National events, so pretty much any bike engine you like.

Think if you were to circuit race it then it would be 750mc BikeSports and there's classes in that to suit pretty much any cc.

The only thing I can think of that is a nominal max of 1000cc is RGB?? but even then I think you can run more but there's some odd BHP limit thing??

The Reynard in my avatar runs a ZX10 lump, if the gearing is odd i've not noticed to be honest

Couple of comments above re dry sumps, while I would concour that a Dry Sump isn't essential, whatever you fit will need to be properly baffled, especially as the engines longitudinal rather than the norm, mines baffled and has an accusump fitted and it's very surprising how often the accusump operates - personally I think this might actually be a good all round 'belt and braces' solution for little extra money (Dry Sump kits being more expensive than replacement engines, accusumps being a few hundred quid)

HTH

Hi

Thinking a bit further..

Given that it's probably not far off full working order under the layer of dust..

I would spend as little time as possible to get it up and running.

Get out there and give it a nice gentle shakedown, and then a couple of damn good thrashings..

Once you've done that and wandered round a few paddocks you'll come up with A Plan and a List which you can while away the winter hours working your way through ready for next spring

you should get one for £1.5k ish.

Why not fit a 1198 ducati lump. surely a 1.2ltr twin can race against a 1000cc 4 like in bike racing classes?

the class changes at 1100 so he would be in with the big boys

Isn't that for single seaters? this is a sports libre ADR? or is that a regional thing?

Spotted!

I was sat in a que on the southbound M6 a short while ago.

Heading northbound an ADR on a trailer, Number 50, fetching shade of purple, looks quite smart

im just looking into engine options atm but the thing that slightly bothers me is the rear axle, which i believe is a morris 1000. and from scouring the net it seems the lowest diff ratio they did was a 3.72:1 which wont help matters much!
